Annual garden applications

Communal Garden – The Communal Garden allows members to share in both the responsibility and the bounty of over 30 communal beds. Gardeners sign up for a team and work collaboratively in assigned beds. Seeds are provided. Harvest is then shared among all Communal Gardeners. This option provides new vegetable gardeners the opportunity to learn from experienced gardeners.

  • Provides flexibility for those who are unavailable for periods or have limited time in the summer.
  • Gardeners commit 1-2 hours per week in the garden and must make arrangements to have another garden member cover their watering and weeding duties if unavailable.
  • Communal gardeners may not harvest from Allotment Plots.
  • $50* per individual or household.
  • Registration Information for Communal Garden

Registration for the Communal Garden will open on March 1st, and will close once capacity has been reached.

*Communal Garden Bursary – The bursary is available for anyone experiencing financial hardship. Gardeners requiring a bursary will be asked to indicate this when completing the online registration. All gardeners are invited to support the bursary program by donation upon registration ($10 to $50), to cover membership costs for Bursary applicants within the community.

Allotment Plots – Our 25, 8 ft by 4 ft raised wicking beds are rented on a seasonal basis. Allotment Plot gardeners may renew their plots from year to year. Typically, there are only 3 to 5 plots available to rent to new gardeners any year. Interested individuals may apply for a plot through an online process beginning February 13th. Plots will be awarded by a lottery amongst the applicants, by February 28. Unsuccessful applicants are encouraged to apply for the Communal Garden when registration opens on March 1.

  • Only one Allotment Plot per individual, family or household.
  • Allotment Plots are maintained and harvested exclusively by the assigned gardener and plot gardeners may not harvest from the Communal Garden.
  • $50 per plot.
